The Masked Singer star shares backstage secrets – and how she kept identity hidden

The Masked Singer UK star Sophie Ellis-Bextor has given an insight to what really goes on behind the scenes of the hit show.

Sophie was unveiled as Alien on the show last weekend, as she was eliminated from the the Masked Singer competition.

The Murder on the Dancefloor singer tried to throw viewers and the judges off the scent by disguising her voice.

But that wasn’t the only thing she followed to shield her identity before the big reveal – and she wasn’t alone.

All of the characters on the show must follow extensive rules backstage to stop their names being revealed.

Speaking to The Mirror after her elimination, Sophie shared some of the things she did to avoid detection.

She explained: “Everywhere that you go you have to wear gloves, a visor that’s reflective, a balaclava, your hood up, a black hoodie that says ‘don’t speak to me’.

“The funny thing is that would probably have seemed really weird last year but this year…

“When I was talking to the producer before the show I joked I’d been wearing a mask in preparation, we’re already kind of used to putting masks on aren’t we!”

Speaking about her reasons for taking part and what she thought of her costume, she added: “I don’t know if you have seen anything our family has been getting up to this year, just to get through the strangeness of lockdown, but we’ve been doing quite a lot of dressiVideo : Adebayor Surprises Davido And Stonebwowy At Their Fufu Partng up in our house anyway.
