Chelsea assistant Jody Morris has mocked Jose Mourinho with his reaction to the latest comments from the Portuguese manager about his former side.
The Blues have excelled under the guidance of Frank Lampard so far this season, following his return to Stamford Bridge alongside Morris, and they sit joint second in the standings heading into the final international break of the year.
However, Mourinho stated while on punditry duty for Sky Sports’ coverage of the clash between Liverpool and Manchester City that he was still worried about the club in big matches.
“In the first weekend I was worried and I’m still worried with the big matches,” he said, citing the two defeats to Manchester United this season and the loss against Liverpool.
That earned a sarcastic reaction from Morris , who shared a clip of Mourinho’s comments on social media alongside a captain that said ‘Jose is still worried’, followed by laughing face emojis.
Chelsea will have the opportunity to make Mourinho eat his words after the international break when they travel to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Victory against Pep Guardiola’s side would hand the Blues a four-point lead over the defending champions, as well as issuing a real statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League about their capacity this season.
